The Greensboro Symphony Orchestra launched their 2012-2013 concert season with this program, and also marked the birthday of Music Director Dmitry Sitkovetsky. But it could have easily served as a New Year's Day concert from Vienna instead. In addition to Brahms' Violin Concerto with Sitkovetsky as soloist, the program featured two of that composer's Hungarian Dances, as well as other danceable selections from Johann Strauss, Jr., Richard Strauss, and Johann Strauss, Sr. And from a concert a couple of months later there's a GSO performance of one of the Slavonic Dances by Dvořák.
