THE INTRODUCTION

THE HIT SINGLE:  "A Palm Tree"

The opera's final number combines poetry by Rosario Castellanos with a story from the Apocryphal Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew.  In the story, the holy family is fleeing through the desert to Egypt, hungry and thirsty.  At a command from the infant Jesus, a palm tree bends down to share it fruit, and produces cool streams of water from its roots.
