Peter Kolkay

peter kolkayPETER KOLKAY (bassoon) was the first artist on his instrument to be awarded both the Avery Fisher Career Grant and First Prize at the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. Recent career highlights include the premieres of Judah Adashi's The Dark Hours and Harold Meltzer's Likes and Unlikes, and a recording of Elliott Carter's Au Quai for Bridge Records. Kolkay is a member of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's CMS Two program and was a featured guest on a national tour with the ensemble Concertante. He has performed at the Savannah Music Festival and La Musica Festival of Sarasota, as well as the Bridgehampton, Cooperstown and Newport chamber music festivals. Peter Kolkay is on the music faculty of the University of South Carolina. He holds a doctorate from Yale University and a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music.
