Walton and Ravel

krieger-main1-540

Ken Lam leads the Brevard Sinfonia in an evening of music from the early twentieth century featuring works by Ravel and Walton. The concert opens with Ravel's orchestration of his own piano piece Alborada del gracioso, which beautifully blends demanding technical passages with Spanish musical themes. In a second offering from Ravel, pianist Norman Krieger will perform the composer's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. The concert will close with a performance of English composer William Walton's first symphony.
